Here is an old hike for which I finally uploaded the photos, and wrote the description! Me and my brother Alex were looking for something to do, it was the beginning of the new year, and I didn’t have a new year’s resolution to hike more, I had a LIFE resolution to hike more. So we down to Dimond Park, to just start walking up the canyon, and go as far as we felt like. This was my second or third time going up this way, and I had never made it past the Montclair Golf Club. We ended up going way past there, under the freeway, up Palo Seco Creek into Joaquin Miller Park, and all the way back down. Neither of us had been to that part of Joaquin Miller before, so we took the time to check out the features, natural and manmade. To complete the loop, we ended up doing part of the hike back on the road, but that’s just an aspect of the grand urban excursion! And we’re fortunate that such expeditions are possible within the fine city of Oakland.

Gateway to the underworld
